Lockhart views his experience in the department as an asset. “I think I bring a new set of eyes to see what is being done well and what can be done better. Having gone through my residency and fellowship here, I have an idea of how things work and what can improve systematically. Having completed my medical education at the University of Iowa, I was trained in a different environment that I believe has some benefits I want to incorporate here.”

TJ Lockhart, MDIn this position, Dr. Lockhart will be responsible for directing the Anesthesiology Department’s medical student programs including the current clinical rotations, mentorship and counseling programs, as well as future outreach programs with the School of Medicine. “I am excited for this new opportunity as I am helping to expand a program already highly regarded by our medical student rotators,” says Lockhart. “I hope to add to the present offerings through the department and to consolidate various activities in order to show medical students what a career as an anesthesiologist entails.”

In this regard, Lockhart will serve as our Department’s ambassador to the Washington University School of Medicine in order to further enhance our Department’s profile and explore new collaborations.
“Overall, I think using past experiences combined with new ideas in a hybrid approach will help shape the way we educate the future. I hope to move forward crafting a team-based educational group that shares the same ideas.”
