Four trainees won first place in their competition categories and were invited to present on their research projects.

The Department of Anesthesiology held its 6th Annual Academic Evening on Friday, April 20.  We had a wonderful turnout and the following trainees won first place in their competition categories and were invited to present on their research projects.

Tamara Markovic (Mentor – Jose Moron Concepcion) – graduate student category – “Dissecting Dopamine Pathways Altered by Pain-Induced Dysfunction in Opioid Signaling”

Aaron Mickle (Mentor - Rob Gereau) – postdoctoral category – “Closed Loop Wireless Monitoring and Modulation of Bladder Function”

Kate Meacham (Mentor – Michael Bottros) – resident / fellow category – “High Resolution Trajectory Mapping of Post-Discharge Knee Replacement Patients Shows an Excess of Prescribed Opioids: Results of the TRIPP (Trajectories in Postoperative Pain) Study”

Victoria Cui (Mentor – Michael Avidan) - undergraduate or medical student category – “Observational Study of Delirium in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) as a Predictor of Subsequent Postoperative Delirium”
