DoCTR Coordinator Core Resources

DoCTR employs a pool of highly skilled research coordinators, assistants and registered nurses with supervision by a Clinical Research Nurse Manager.  The core provides support for a wide variety of research endeavors that include basic science and human subjects research.  The staff has extensive experience in conducting research related to pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, drug interactions, intraoperative and radiological studies, concurrent, retrospective and longitudinal data collection; from simple to highly complex; for inpatient, outpatient and healthy volunteers.  A study protocol will be assigned a lead coordinator with oversight by the Clinical Nurse Manager.  Staff are cross-trained to support all studies, and assignments are based on the level of complexity and clinical skills required for meeting study requirements.  The research core is able to provide coverage 7 days/week, inclusive of evenings and weekends.

The research team has extensive experience working with large, multi-center clinical trials and individual investigators. Assistance is provided for protocol development, study design, recruitment, informed consent, study implementation and monitoring, data management and analysis.  Assistance can also be provided in assessing research costs for budget planning, and evaluating budget proposals from external sponsors. A variety of data management and tracking systems such as Excel, REDCap, Cider and SAS are routinely employed.

DoCTR research staff maintain credentials and on-going education to ensure ethical and professional standards of conduct are upheld for all research activities. This includes certifications for CITI human subjects training, Good Clinical Practices (GCP), PERCCS, and WU Necessary Elements in the Fundamentals of Human Subjects Research.  Staff are also trained in handling of biohazard materials and waste, routine sample processing, BCLS and radiation safety in accordance with federal regulations and guidelines from the Office of the Vice Chancellor of Research.  The division strives for excellence in providing Investigators with the support, services, personnel and facilities required for conducting quality research.
